EVOLVE

Evolution in sports is inevitable. Things get faster, equipment gets better, players advance, play evolves. This is a good thing. 

As Pickleball’s explosive growth continues, it too evolves. Today, players hit harder, play faster, angle tighter, spin more aggressively, and play the sport differently than even a few years ago.

As the sport moves on, so too do the tools of the the trade. New technologies change the landscape, while new materials and manufacturing processes shape what’s possible in equipment design. Advancing equipment brings advanced performance for the best players, and those moving in that direction. This too, is a great thing.

I’ve always been passionate about design and technology. Industrial design and engineering degrees will do that to you. I’ve spent the last two decades of my entrepreneurial career designing and building companies and products that try to shake up industries. I’m always searching for something to try and improve through great design and innovative tech. In Pickleball, I think (and hope) I’ve found the latest and greatest market.

In just five years, Pickleball has come a long way from the early composite paddles of 2018, and a lifetime away from the wooden paddles of the early days. Only a few performance paddles today are glued together in cold press construction, as thermoforming and other technologies increase production quality and performance. 

Still, innovation is in it’s infancy. And the Pickleball world is a universe full of passionate brands, even more passionate players, and a future wide open for change. 

It is our hope at OM, to be a part of that spectacular landscape. And as our humble entry into this world we believe the biggest change to Pickleball is coming – the move from paddles to racquets. 

As the sport we love speeds up – in every sense of the word – so too must the tools. Paddles will always have their place, but we are betting racquets are the future.
